Aluminum oxide, glass sphere or special sand can be used for:

• Remove internal and external cements from the parts to be cemented.
• Eliminate temporary and definitive cements.
• Surface degreasing of the prosthetic piece.
• Final adjustment of the occlusal area.
• Destruction in ceramics and pressed ceramics.
• Cleaning of cobalt chrome castings.

Sandblasting or sandblasting is an industrial surface cleaning technique based on the projection of an abrasive material together with pressurized air. Sand was the traditional abrasive, from which the name originated, but nowadays materials such as: aluminum silicate, glass microspheres, pumice stone, bicarbonate, vegetable grit, brown corundum, white corundum, plastic grit or steel shot are used for sandblasting.
